Campbell's theory of the monomyth has most commonly been called the hero's journey. For many years, the archetypal hero has been thought to be the only character that met the requirements of Campbell's theory. However, through Karpyshyn's trilogy of novels about the Sith Lord, Darth Bane, Bane illustrates what the epitome of an antihero is and also that he can make the monomyth his own.
