The present case also is unusual because a normal computed tomographic (CT) scan had been obtained of the sella shortly before the development of a large pituitary mass due to lymphocytic hypophysitis. Lymphocytes were characterized using immunoperoxidase stains. A probably unrelated malabsorption syndrome later complicated her hormone replacement therapy.
