Abstract
Health systems’ reimbursement funding is highly influenced by patient satisfaction scores. Communication and availability of information are two of the common themes contributing to lower than optimal patient satisfaction scores in this organization’s pediatric emergency department. Up to date research recommends the use of an orientation video to aid in increasing communication and patient satisfaction during emergency department visits. The aim of the orientation video is to provide parents and caregivers with information and expectations during the visit while showcasing the functionality of the department and roles of various personnel in an academic medical center. The goal was to improve patient satisfaction scores with the implementation of the orientation video in the waiting room, triage rooms, and exam rooms.
