This document is written in support of a creative body of work for the Master of Fine Arts degree at East Carolina University. The work presented focuses on both my relationship with the natural world as well as the complex relationships of man and nature. The visual depictions of work show both a celebration of and reverence to natural objects. This is illustrated by collecting specimens from nature that are integrated into wearable objects in an amulet form. The objects created allow a wearer to be connected to the natural world in a time when contact, which is so essential, is elusive. This paper will talk about personal experiences and relationships with the natural world, the natural cycle of decay and repurposing of man-made structures and materials, and finally the psychological effect that a disconnection with nature has on humankind as a whole.  en_US
