My Signature Honors Project was in the form of a full jazz senior recital. The main requirements for the jazz senior recitals is that the recitalist prepares at least eight pieces to fulfill the stylistic requirements determined by the faculty, and that the program is roughly an hour or more in length as a “full” recital. More specific requirements and details for the recital vary at the discretion of the applied instructors, but it is expected that the recital demonstrates and reflects the student’s musical growth made while at ECU. The pieces I chose for my recital relate to aspects in which I have grown as a musician under my professors and alongside my peers, and tie back to musical lessons I have learned since being in the School of Music.
