Abstract

For East Carolina University Neuroscience Thesis I and II and additionally East Carolina University Signature Honors Project requirements two culturally relevant neuroscience research articles were reviewed, synthesized, and presented. The first presentation was entitled “Pathological Internet Use and Anxiety: Brain Structure Analysis” (Zhang & Bian, 2020), and explored Internet Addiction Disorder in relation to anxiety and brain structure. The second presentation was entitled “Electrical Neuroimaging of Music Processing Reveals Mid-Latency Changes with Level of Musical Expertise” (Oechslin et al., 2017), and investigated the long-term effects of how musical training impacts both brain and behavior.
