From the beginning of man, storytelling has been a foundational element of culture, language, faith, and the traditions that bind us together as people groups and as the human race. It is a proud tradition that all peoples of this earth have carried on for many years, sharing countless perspectives, and I am adding my proverbial drop in the ocean. This project is a collection of short stories, essays, and other creative writings that shares my current perspective on how expectations have shaped my life and how they will affect my future. Growing up, I felt very alone in my experiences, and the phrase "be who you needed when you were younger" has always resonated with me. It is my primary motivation for teaching and one of the reasons I have chosen to teach high school - it was a pivotal time in my life when my world opened up and 16-year-old me would have truly benefitted from hearing from 22-year-old me. For anyone who is willing to listen, I am willing to share.
