dc.description.abstractThe Migration of the legacy web application to Content Management Systems (CMS) is inevitable because of the overload of managing the content. Traditionally, Content Management Systems are built with RDBMSes and the migration of the legacy web application is performed by transferring data from proprietary HTML pages to the corresponding database of the CMS. The newly introduced NoSQL databases beg the question as to whether SQL is the right choice for the migration. In this research, the performance of NoSQL was studied in a custom CMS and NoSQL was used to show how it can assist in the data migration process from legacy applications to the Content Management Systems. The performance and the storage requirements of NoSQL using Simple CMS were first tested in order to investigate the potential drawbacks of using NoSQL solutions. No negative effects on storage space and query performance were discovered. Along with these findings, the approach in this research incorporates document-oriented databases to enhance the process of data migration, and the result is that the dynamic schema of document-oriented databases makes the migration process more agile and accurate.  en_US
