Caley Singleton Voice Recital

Abstract

This creative endeavor was to experience performing vocally in different languages. The final performance, the recital, included works in English, Italian, and German, grouped into sets of songs based on the composer. Program notes, a paper that included background information about the composers of the pieces, background of the pieces, and translations if applicable were provided to each guest at the performance. Overall, the recital conveyed emotional texts, most dealing with emotional relationships between people, in different languages. The goal was to perform emotionally and add emphasis on how music can convey emotion regardless of language.
