As nursing students are preparing for their clinical careers, they are also learning negative patterns for dealing with stress. Burnout significantly effects the well-being of nurses and their quality of care. The purpose is to provide insight on the current literature, comprehensive data analysis, and recommendations for future research. Seventeen articles were found using the inclusion criteria. Each were reviewed by the 2018 version of the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT) to assess the quality of the article. This presentation will examine the negative influence of compassion fatigue and recommend areas to promote resiliency characteristics in education to promote less burnout in the future. Nurse educators play a vital role in the success of reducing burnout for their student’s current and future well-being. The importance of exemplifying and influencing resiliency and mindfulness for students, will likely decrease the compassion fatigue and burnout.
