The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a group of over 150 viruses. Some types of HPV can cause health problems like genital warts and cancer. Most of these complications can be prevented with the HPV vaccine, but eligible adolescents are not receiving the vaccine. The percentage of eligible adolescents at a pediatric clinic in rural eastern North Carolina receiving the HPV vaccine is below the national HealthyPeople 2020 target goal. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project implements electronic medical record reminders in a pediatric clinic to alert providers of eligible adolescents for the HPV vaccine to help increase the administration vaccine rates. The medical record reminders for the HPV vaccine is implemented over two months. A post-medical record query conducted by the electronic health record system will provide results showing the effects of implementing a medical record reminder on the HPV vaccination rates.en_US
