Description | Driving is a very important activity that allows people to maintain their independence. The purpose of this study was to investigate brake force concerning different demographics in hopes to increase safety and confidence on the road. Data for this study was collected on one hundred thirty-two subjects by using a Brake and Time Reaction Tester. There was a significant difference found in brake force averages between biological sex. There was no significant difference found in brake force averages among different age groups nor in the number of days driven per week. This study suggests that there is variability in an individual’s performance of brake force. However, when taking the averages of each individual’s brake forces, most fall within a couple of standard deviations from the mean. | |
