    Government and Medicine: the evolution of the Chinese health care system

    Abstract
    China’s diverse political history offers the unique opportunity to explore how a nation’s government impacts its approach to medicine and public health. The author found a correlation between Chinese government and health. She indicates, however, that the wealth of a nation is not necessarily an indicator of the health of its people.
    Description
    The author of this thesis project, Brittany L. Carr, was chosen as the winner of the 2011 Michael F. Bassman Honors Thesis Award. Her advisor was Dr. John Tucker of the ECU Dept. of History.
