Description | Creativity is a critical asset to organizations in order to remain competitive and to maintain survival. Additionally, the willingness to take risks is associated with organizational advances. Thus far, the assessment of creative personality has typically occurred at the explicit level. This study investigated the relationships among implicit and explicit creative personality, risk-taking behavior, and creative performance. Implicit components of creative personality were assessed using the Conditional Reasoning Test for Creative Personality (CRT-CP), along with explicit components of creative personality and risk-taking behavior (i.e., self-report scales). Creative performance was assessed using a divergent thinking task and a creative building task. The interaction amongst (1) implicit and explicit measures of creative personality and (2) the implicit measure of creative personality and risk-taking behavior were used to predict creative performance. With respect to the divergent thinking task, scores on the CRT-CP interacted with individual levels of Openness to Experience (FFM) to predict creative performance. Implications and directions for future research are discussed. | |
