The Red Scare during the 1950’s was one of the most traumatic periods of American history. The decade would later be known as the “Era of McCarthyism” because of a Republican Senator from Wisconsin, Joseph McCarthy. McCarthy became an influential man, well-known throughout the United States for his avid attempts to persecute members of the Communist Party. McCarthy caused the Red Scare of the 1950’s and encouraged the spread of the anti-Communist movement in the United States.en_US
