The study deals with a history of ash in which traditional use of the glaze material is discussed. The study further explores the problems of ash procurement and processing, and establishes approaches to the solution of problems relating thereto. The formulation of high percentage vegetable ash glazes maturing at cone ten is the main problem of the thesis. This is resolved with the formulation of five workable vegetable ash glaze formulas.
